For Harsheen Jammu, the founder of Ombre, wedding photography began with a gift—a DSLR camera from her parents in 2010. What started as curiosity has since grown into one of the most distinctive boutique studios in the wedding industry.

“I’m a self-taught photographer with a background in commerce and an MBA from IIM Kozhikode,” she shares. “Over the years, I’ve worn many hats—artist, creative director, strategist, client manager, and team leader. Beyond photography, I find inspiration in painting, reading, DJing, and traveling, which continually feed into my creative lens.”

That interdisciplinary influence has shaped Ombre into a brand celebrated for pushing boundaries and redefining visual storytelling.

With 14 years in the wedding industry, Harsheen has seen countless couples and cultures, yet her passion for documenting intimacy remains fresh.

“I have realised that all love stories have things in common but every Story with Love is unique in its own way,” she reflects. “I enjoy photographing intimate moments that make my heart melt.”

This philosophy is the heartbeat of Ombre—finding universality in love while honoring the unique character of each couple’s journey.

A Style That Defies the Generic

Harsheen describes her photography as “Non-Generic, Painting-Inspired, Loose Editorial, Wild Candid.” These words perfectly encapsulate the Ombre ethos: images that feel simultaneously timeless and contemporary, refined yet full of life.

Known for its maximalist aesthetic and contemporary composition, my work marries evocative narratives with original colour palettes. What sets Ombre apart is its commitment to customization, steering away from templated styles to create a truly immersive, tailor-made experience for each client.

Every frame feels like a brushstroke on canvas—layered, emotional, and deliberately unique.

Tools of the Trade

Though artistry defines Ombre’s vision, tools still matter. Harsheen’s trusted equipment includes the Fuji X100vi, XT5, 33mm, 18mm lenses, and Profoto B1 & A1 lights.

For post-processing, her painter’s eye once again takes the lead:
“I focus on color correction and retouching, with tones deeply influenced by my background as a painter. Every edit is customized to match the client’s outfits, venue, and lighting, ensuring a distinct and personal touch.”

The Client Journey

When it comes to working with couples, collaboration is key.

“Absolutely. No two weddings are alike, and we believe in designing a package tailored for each couple’s unique story and requirements,” Harsheen emphasizes.

Preparation plays a vital role too. “Pre-planning always helps, whether it’s weddings or celebrity shoots. A quick brief on what the couple enjoys—their vibe, music, or little quirks—gives us cues to personalize the film and photos. Also, being relaxed and present in the moment makes all the difference; it always shows in the pictures.”

This tailored approach ensures that every couple feels seen, heard, and celebrated in their final gallery.

Destination Dreams

Ombre thrives on travel, with destination weddings forming an integral part of their work.

“Yes, destination weddings are a big part of what we do!” Harsheen smiles. “Some of my favorites have been Udaipur (India), Bali (Indonesia), and Seville (Spain).”

These global celebrations not only showcase Ombre’s versatility but also highlight the brand’s ability to adapt its approach across cultures and landscapes.

A Woman’s Place Behind the Lens

Photography is more than a career for Harsheen—it’s a calling. But as a woman in the wedding photography industry, she has faced her share of challenges.

I believe being a woman in the photography industry is challenging yet rewarding in its own beautiful way. Passion and hard work transcend everything else. Over the years, photography has not only been my profession but has also shaped me into the person I am today.

And with Ombre, she’s paying it forward: “We do need more women in this industry, and at Ombre, we are always on the lookout for women photographers, cinematographers, and editors to join our team.”

Closing Thoughts

From painterly edits to wild candid frames, Ombre has carved a distinct space in wedding photography—one where customization, artistry, and heart meet.

As Harsheen beautifully sums up: “All love stories have things in common, but every Story with Love is unique in its own way.”

Through Ombre, those stories become visual legacies—vivid, emotional, and timeless.
