“Much like any of the strong and passionate pursuits that I love; weddings was something I embraced yet rather fell into,” Marva recalls of her beginnings. With six years of wedding planning and over fifteen years in Journalism and Public Relations, she found herself perfectly equipped to orchestrate love stories.
“Born and raised in The Bahamas, it’s been my life’s work to share the beauty and vivacious energy of these extraordinary islands with couples seeking a wedding experience as spectacular as their love story,” she adds.
Marva’s guiding principle is clear: “We do the planning. You feel the magic.”
Her favorite projects are multi-day weddings. “We enjoy multi-day weddings with a mix of adventure, culture of the islands and exquisite food and beverage experiences,” she explains.
This philosophy allows her clients to truly immerse themselves in the islands while she and her team handle the details. “I enjoy bringing our clients’ dreams to life, overcoming hurdles, and making everything work,” Marva says.
Chic Bahamas Weddings offers an all-encompassing approach: “We offer full-service destination wedding planning, design, production and management. We also work with couples to curate experiences that meet their specific needs.”
Every package is tailored, ensuring no two celebrations ever feel the same. “We work with clients to achieve their desired outcome through a discovery call to fully understand their needs, vision and style. Additionally, questionnaires are shared with them for further input.”
When asked about her most unforgettable wedding, Marva smiles: “One of the most memorable weddings we’ve had the honor of planning was for a beloved stage actor.”
The day unfolded like a play in acts:
“The celebration began with a heartfelt Jewish ceremony on a sweeping oceanfront lawn, the waves creating the most romantic backdrop.”
“From there, nearly one hundred guests set sail on a private yacht for cocktails, laughter, and breathtaking views as we transported them to a secluded island.”
“Awaiting their arrival was the soulful rhythm of Junkanoo, the heartbeat of the Bahamas. Guests were swept into a jubilant rush, feathers, drums, and horns carrying them into an evening of magic.”
“A candlelit dinner unfolded beneath the palms, followed by dancing under a canopy of stars.”
Her voice warms as she concludes: “It was an enchanting night—filled with love, joy, and artistry—that left even the couple’s fellow actors spellbound.”
Marva’s portfolio stretches across the islands, but a few venues hold special significance:

Destination weddings come with unique hurdles. “The biggest challenge I’ve faced with weddings in the past is shipping of goods to the Out Islands. The chances of cubic measurements not fitting on a charter airplane could delay the arrival of perishable goods.”
But even those challenges feed her resilience. “We help the couple stay on budget by prioritizing what’s most important and scaling thereafter,” she explains, turning potential setbacks into opportunities for thoughtful planning.
