Tamara’s journey into wedding planning wasn’t planned—it was a calling.
“My name is Tamara Delaney and I’ve been a Wedding & Event Planner for the past six years. Much like any of the strong and passionate pursuits that I love; weddings was something I embraced yet rather fell into,” she shares.
With over 15 years in journalism and PR, Tamara never envisioned herself orchestrating weddings. Yet, the storytelling, communication, and strategy skills she had refined became invaluable in this new chapter. “My generated skills over the years somehow managed to be purposeful within the craft and the inspiration of combining island elegance, creativity and beauty allowed for a wonderful planning career.”
Her first wedding was a revelation. The meticulousness required, the joy created, and the artistry involved convinced her this was where she belonged.
Living and working in the Bahamas naturally shaped Tamara’s ethos.
“We live in Paradise. Therefore, our mantra is simple: Create love within paradise,” she says.
Her approach emphasizes the natural beauty of the islands, enhanced with romantic details that turn celebrations into breathtaking experiences. “We love to use the simplicity and the aesthetics of our natural backgrounds and enhance that with a romantic and aesthetically filled event that holds memories and movements.”
For Tamara, the most fulfilling part of wedding planning is straightforward:
“It is without a doubt manifesting a Dream: to be a part of one’s Vision and transforming that into the execution of a lifetime is the absolute rush and the passion my team and I strive for.”
Her team treats each couple as unique, tailoring packages to fit their desires. While there are standard structures, customization is always key: “Every client is unique and thus, treated exclusively.”
Asked about the most memorable event, Tamara recalls the wedding she executed just after Covid.
“The most memorable by far was the Wedding we did right after Covid! Our execution and the work curated within that time was something we would never ever forget. We took a most sober time of the world and created absolute beauty, joy and ecstatic celebration. It will always go down as one of our favorites.”
Such experiences reminded her that weddings are not just about aesthetics but resilience, hope, and shared humanity.
Tamara’s relationship with clients goes beyond contracts.
“We listen. We build a rapport and we try to balance delivering the desires with a realistic approach. Weddings are much more like relationship-building… We are often sometimes their friend, their therapist, and their soldier! But we’re there always to serve and to provide joy.”
This philosophy also helps her navigate challenges—whether it’s opposing family opinions or outside pressures. “Sometimes it is the outer noise that presents a challenge… Nevertheless, we navigate our way through each personality and we make it work for all in the end!”
Wild Tamarind Bahamas works closely with vetted hotels and private estates across the islands, ensuring couples have settings with the right balance of amenities and atmosphere.
Budgeting is one of the most common hurdles, and Tamara doesn’t sugarcoat it:
“The advice is quite simple: You’re gonna either have to decrease your wedding guest count or increase your budget. There’s no other way.”
Her advice to couples planning their wedding? “Your original idea is the thing you truly want. Everything else that pops up after that is a distraction.”
If she could speak to her younger self starting out, Tamara would say:
“Never believe you know everything. It is Murphy’s Law. Always prepare for the unpredictable. You live by that? You’ll flourish in this business.”
And her dream for the future? Not a venue, but a couple. “It is not really a Wedding Venue but a dream couple. We’d love to have a celebrity couple our way! Our fingers are crossed!”
